When I photographed my good friend and talented artist Jolita, she chose a red Acne Studios beanie with a cute engraved face logo for her look. This beanie added a bit of flair to her autumn outfit and perfectly captured the spirit of our quick fifteen-minute photoshoot that day.
It had been a while since I last picked up my camera, and that meeting recharged me with powerful creative energy.
After we said our goodbyes over a cup of coffee, I wondered what kind of hat I would like? What would keep me cozy and shield me from the wind this fall?
That’s when I remembered my mom’s cheerful pink hat with the word “AMAZING” on it. I recently asked her if she knew what the word meant, and she said no. Laughing at her concerned expression, I replied, what it meant. She smiled and said, “Well, it is amazing then!”
I love the idea of having a positive write-up right on your head!
Maybe hats aren’t just about shielding us from the cold – they’re like little statements, a way to express who we are, or how we feel on any given day. A reflection of our mood or a boost of confidence, like a personal emblem we wear?
About a week later, I asked Jolita to photograph me in my fall hat – a burgundy #PakoLorente beanie I "borrowed" from the men’s section. And there I was, strolling through the narrow streets of the Old Town, wrapped in the warm tones of autumn!
Now, I’m thinking that a hat can truly be a wonderful, mood-lifting whatzit accessory, not just for you but for everyone you encounter throughout the day!
